Is Erecting an Invisible Dog Fence the Right Choice for your Dog?

If you are trying to find a way to stop your dog from rushing off your property and out into the street, an invisible dog fence is probably one of the things you are considering.

Is this the right choice for your dog, though, or are there better things you can do? Here are a few things to think about before you make your decision.

Does your dog like being outside? -- If your dog enjoys being outside for most of the day, an invisible dog fence is a great choice. That is because you do not have to worry about leaving him locked up inside when he would rather be out.

Does your dog love to see what is happening in the neighborhood? -- If you have a nosy dog that loves to see what is happening in the neighborhood, sticking him behind a wooden fence or a brick wall is not likely to make him happy. In extreme cases, it could even make him very depressed.

Choose an invisible dog fence, however, and nothing about what he can see from your garden will change at all. The only thing that will change is his ability to run out into the road.

Do you want to keep him away from angry neighbors? -- If you have had problems with your neighbors who were angry that your dog had been urinating on their lawn, having an invisible dog fence can really help.

After all, while your dog will still be able to see what is going on at the neighbor's house, he will not be able to get there with an invisible dog fence. Neither will he be able to get onto their lawn or into their flower beds and urinate or defecate on them.
